  •  Quick -- somebody get Jimmy Carter (none)
at the ready for our side! (I know it's sad, but until we can demonstrate that we are capable of holding fair and honest elections, we may as well rechristen ourselves, The Banana Republic of America)

    •  Carter (none)
(Maybe you were kidding?) Jimmy Carter has (rightly) attained "respected elder statesman" status in the minds of many, but he's also a Democrat and has been publicly critical of the Bush Admin. I would trust him anyway, but I don't know how influencial he could be.

      Another reality-based voter for Kerry/Edwards

      •  Of course it was a joke. (none)
I voted for Carter in 1976.  My point simply is: with all of the Rethuglican fraud and voter intimidation going on, we're in as much need of "fair election observers" as are many so-called "Third World" nations.

Not only right wingers are hypocrites, it seems.

          •  Wow, my own fact-checker! (none)
The difference is that I'm not a published columnist who's widely read, but rather a lowly poster on a blog.  Your snarky reply is one of many I've been seeing on this site recently, and I think it's unfortunate.  Many, maybe most, of us here share the same beliefs, values and goals -- most notably, defeating George Bush.  So I think a better use of our time and energy is to stay focused on positive action and dialogue, and avoid sophomoric feuds and spats.  Okay?

    •  Carter has already refused to certify (none)
the election in Florida.  It's hard to keep up, I know.
