  •  Problems being written off as "minor" (7+ / 0-)

What the fuck is wrong with people?  If even 1 vote doesn't count because of "wet weather" or a "computer glitch", that's a disgrace in my books.  They're so eager to trivialize democracy turning into a pig-fuck.

    •  of course one single vote denied is not "minor" (2+ / 0-)

but I think they mean a relative minor number of incidents.

Please, everyone, take a deep breath and let's not assume the US is majority-Rovian-and-out-to-get-us.

Remember that getting 100 million people to vote in a single day, relying on over a million volunteers (who's average age is 72!) is always going to have some human error.

Suppose it were your bank account.

get paid.  Voting is run by, 99%, volunteers.

          Yes -- it's a poor system.

My point is that: given the system, there will be inevitable screw-ups, and the screw-ups do not necessarily mean there is a conspiracy, and, further, it'd be a miracle if there weren't at least some small number of screw-ups.

        •  Are you saying that banks never have problems???? (0+ / 0-)

I guess that's why we're not having banking problems.

Even at the personal level, I've had problems with banks many times - not depositing money, taking wrong fees, etc. I also worked in a bank for awhile. They make errors ALL the time. It's just that the percentage is small and they don't get national publicity.

it across magnets for an hour, then try to use it.

Same thing as someone getting their ballot so wet it won't run through the machine.

I agree we need election reforms- holiday, optical scanners the same in all precincts, more machines, paper trails, longer hours, paid workers at the polls, etc.  That said, I don't diaries on Kos to be the truth and nothing but the truth.  People engage in hyperbole all the time here, especially during elections.

          •  OK (0+ / 0-)

I assume you are not equating real complaints suggesting suppression with "hyperbole" or with "minor problems".

      •  It's not about "conspiracy" (0+ / 0-)

It's about getting it right.  The excuses they're coming up with are so lame, and so avoidable, that it's incredible that they're happening in 2008.
