Yes, of course there are many straight people who have been fighting this fight, and every bit of that work is greatly appreciated. But for some of us (regardless of sexual orientation), the victory parties on Tuesday night were dulled by sadness, pain, and anger that while the world was celebrating a triumph of overcoming one discriminatory barrier, another group of Americans was stripped of a fundamental human right, and several other states passed efforts to prevent certain individuals from ever gaining access to or recognition of that right. For me this is exceedingly painful and hard to take. The CT victory is great -- but it doesn't cancel out the pain of the losses.

I too have been feeling like that issue is where my attention is going to focus for the next steps ... even though there are of course many, many pressing issues to tackle. But this one is looming quite large on my radar too.
