The blame game has started, with many blaming black people for voting against the measure. I don't think that is so. I'd say one's religion has more to do with it.
And, let's face it, the NO side didn't do as good a job in promoting the issue. Yes, they were outspent, but I think that perhaps there was just too much optimism, that it would pass, what's the worry. By the time folks saw it was behind, they went into high gear.
I hate to see people blaming each other, or specific groups. There is still a lot of homophobia out there. And the YES people really struck fear into people with their (lying) ads. I think there might have been folks who would have voted for the measure but were turned off becuase of the misleading ads about kids being taught about gay marriage in schools, etc.
It's amazing how slowly progress moves. I think this will be overturned, but it's going to take time. You will win. I'm sorry it just didn't happen sooner for you all.
Here in Mass, we had the same thing happen, but the legislature kept delaying the vote long enough to change minds and get the measure passed finally. I'm pretty sure that if it had been put to a vote, gay marriage would not have passed. there are some things that should not be voted on. If everyone got to vote on others civil rights, woman would probably still be working to vote today. Just look what happened with the ERA - still not passed.

Electing conservatives is like hiring a carpenter who thinks hammers are evil.
