from '80 to '94, who tried very hard multiple times to retire Don and Ted once. It was really frustrating.

Looking at the map, I found my old precinct and just started laughing.

In '88 we got serious about becoming politically active. At that point we had to reregister because the Libertarian party had not gained enough votes in the last statewide election to maintain it's status for state registration. We went to our GOP precinct caucus and were not allowed to change our registration - although we should have been. We stayed to watch and listen to the process. For about a half hour.

By that time it was so clear that the AK GOP was completely controlled by the religious right. The next evening I registered at the Democratic caucus and took home Dukakis' position papers.

It was precinct 19. The Anchorage Baptist Temple is across the street from the school where the caucus' were held. The classic Mega church Pastor, Jerry Prevo (who did not live/vote in that district) was at that caucus, entourage and press crowding him. An assistant pastor of the church was our precinct chair, who refused to register us.

I feel alcohol is definitely in order.

when we tried to unseat Murkowski after his first term. That is when I first met the Begich family. Worked phone banks with Mark's brother in Fairbanks.
