    I don't actually know if she keeps a gun in her purse! I do know she has a concealed weapon permit.

      which may not be the only reason, given WA-8 is partly Seattle suburbs...if I recall, WA-8 has never elected a Democrat in its history; it's one of those districts where the Republican Party was traditionally the default party and in too many cases the real race was in the primary between a conservative and moderate, and sometimes a progressive, Republican.  The Republican state representative from Issaquah in the 1990s was politically about where the Green Party is, to the left of most Democrats in the state legislature.  This is not at all like the rest of Washington State, where Democrats tend to do well, just this particular district.  I'm not sure how much this has changed since I've been out of Washington for over a decade.

      That Darcy Burner has done as well as she has in that district is a sign Democrats have made a lot of progress there.
