but Grizzabella is right:  the constitution does work to protect the rights of unpopular minorities.  It was this fact that resulted in the right to marry for gays and lesbians in CA in the first place, and it may prove a fundamental principle for defeating prop h8.

Like communism and fascism before it, fundamentlism will not rest until it is thoroughly discredited or the entire world is under its yoke.

      •  You are right. You're not sure what I mean. ;) (0+ / 0-)

Look, I'm letting my cynicism full reign for a few days.  It's only human nature.  Just see it as snark if you wish and move on.

Though I must say my faith in the ability or desire of people in general to uphold Constitutions has been flagging on multiple grounds lately.

You have evidently taken at least one (and probably many more -- I mean no offense, heh!) basic civics classes.

Maybe a good idea for other people to learn something about civics as well, because it sure seems the people throwing about justifications for things like YES on Prop 8 haven't taken any.

Maybe, even, teaching civics in schools again?

          I'll drink to that.

I think in the end, I agree with you completely, sadly.
