a way to make things work for everyone.  I'm saying it won't be easy, the path is not clear, but treating them the way we treated us (ignoring our half of the country) is not the way to go.

political opposition.  i, for one, do not intend to ignore them, but try to compromise while at the same time challenging their notions of what it means to be a "real american."

slow and incremental progress via compromise is preferable to no progress, however i believe there may come a time when we have to call attempts at compromise a failure and strike out on our own because it's the right thing to do.

if they will not agree that we must give every american citizen the same marital rights as every other citizen and that government has a stake in providing health care for everyone, i think we should drag them kicking and screaming to those positions the way they had to be dragged during the civil rights movement.

court decisions, and if we have to Amendments.  We'll get there.  The battle goes back and forth, but we're incrementally moving towards a more perfect union.

sometimes i think americans might agree with eachother more than we think we do.  if we would just take time to complete the conversation rather than just seeking out the differences and going away mad.
