    ...it seems too much like a parody to be real. I mean, the GOP vote suppressors are vile and  careless and often stupid, but I find it hard to believe that they are THIS stupid.

      ... along with "If you have any unpaid rent or utility bills, you cannot vote" etc.

      I don't know if they test this stuff on focus groups, but remember -- it doesn't have to work on everybody, it just has to work on somebody.

      ... a substantial fraction of adult males really are disenfranchised by virtue of criminal history, and a substantial fraction of everybody has minor unresolved issues (bad debts, child support arrears, failure-to-appear summons on unpaid parking tickets, etc, etc).
