    ... of the Dem Pols then I am.  It is my fervent wish that the Dem pols have as the endgame goal, single payer, but when you see that Baccus is one of the biggest reciepients of health insurance dollars, I really don't get the warm fuzzies.

      I'm looking at this from a purely administrative and legal perspective. It's up to my US brethren to actually force the politicians to deliver single-payer, in the end, or an insurance industry so regulated it might as well be owned by the state.

        Yes, it is our responsibility to force our pols to deliver single-payer, that is why I don't like any plans with mandates, it will only fail and hurt any chance for real universal care.

          I don't think that an improvement in the form of mandates precludes future reform - on the contrary, if properly conceived it could make it easier.
