    I just returned from my solstice adventure.

    I went to Joshua Tree National Park to celebrate the Solstice at 4:03 a.m. There was a rare substantial snowstorm this week, and I took photos illuminated by the waxing moon. I stayed until past dawn and had a great time -- well, except for slipping on some ice, twice! There were meteors for a while before the solstice and I heard owls hooting all night. It was fantastic because there was still 4-14 inches of snow on the ground 3 days after the end of the snowstorm.
