  •  And if C had not said what he said... (0+ / 0-)

that might well have happened...but it did not...I do not assume that there had to be negotiations, but the fact is that there were negotiations starting on Nov 5th...your opinion of whether there should have been is not relevant...

Everything is negotiable in this world...

    •  Again (0+ / 0-)

Just because something is negotiable doesn't mean it should be negotiated.  Your argument is about the mechanics of the negotiation.  My argument is that, had the Dems done the right thing in the first place there would be no discussion of mechanics.

I would argue that my (and others) opinion that there should not have been negotiations  at all is actually exceedingly relevant - not to today's outcome obviously but to future dealings with Senate Dems.

As I wrote above, it is my opinion that this was an epic failure on their part.  It is my opinion that this will come back to haunt them.  It is my opinion that they should now be punished for failing to grow a pair and do the right thing.

Anyway, it's moot now - they've pussed out and now we will just move on and try to apply pressure in other ways.

      •  Obama forced the negotiation... (0+ / 0-)

by wanting Lieberman in the caucus...once that was seen as the objective of the President-Elect then there was a negotiation...until then you are correct, the Dems could have told Lieberman to take it or leave it...
