    They have slowly dwindled away for the last 28 years.  They help to prevent monopolies.  This diarist's opinion of the WF market (any grocery store) would be the WF position; the other position is that the market for WO and WF was much smaller - organic, natural foods.  That's what the fight is all about in an antitrust law suit.

    I sure hope there are more antitrust investigations under Obama, especially as the financial nosedive will inevitably lead to further concentration in many industries.  And that hope is not just because I'm a lawyer.

      Market definition is the key issue in any antitrust investigation.  Define the market narrowly and conduct looks more anticompetitive; define the market broadly and the conduct becomes irrelevant.
