crappier to deal with than Home Depot. No one had ever followed me around a Home Depot glowering as if I was going to steal a big planter or a riding lawn mower in a crate and run off with it , fending off Security with my cane (!) , but get that exact idiot behavior whenever I've shopped at Lowes. Haven't been back in a long time. Anyway , we buy at local hardware store , Farmers' Co op , and one of type feed stores & building supply stores mostly owned by people who live here in the community where we can one finger salute them on the road should their behavior and policies become antisocial. And who have all made a great attempt to offer as many USA made products as they can find.
Like , we buy gas at an independent station who holds the line longer than any other place around against gas price increases , and is always the first to drop them when prices do drop.

    •  Perhaps it's your attitude? (0+ / 0-)

Forgive me for saying this, but you sound like a jerk with a chip on his/her shoulder. It wouldn't surprise me a bit if people tracked your every move because of it.

We forgot. Not just MORE Democrats. BETTER Democrats.

You have demonstrated very clearly a poor ability to read and comprehend. I "sound like a jerk with a chip on my shoulder"?Get a grip.

a Home Depot store is because there is nobody at Home Depot to follow you around.

I could walk out of Home Depot with enough stuff to build a new house (I wouldn't but it would be easy).

Have you ever tried to get service at Home Depot?  An hour at the paint counter...two hours at the cutting table...

Me and my partner bought a huge roll of carpet at Home Depot about 5 years ago. Both of us are handicapped and cannot move such a monster.  So I asked a person (a big BEAR of a guy) in an orange apron for some help (as their sign in the store says that ANY HD employee will help customers load purchases into their vehicle if they need assistance).  The guy looked at us, said, "Carpet huh?, Not my department.  I'll have someone paged."  Then we waited nearly an hour and noone came so I went back into the store and finally found someone "willing" to help -- 20 minutes later.

So you aren't followed at HD because they like you better, it's because there is nobody there to follow you.

          •  I can believe that - we stopped going to HD (0+ / 0-)

nearly 5 years ago , both as a matter of travelling convenience and a commitment to buy at locally owned businesses as much as possible. As much as so many other things have changed in 5 years , no doubt the standard for customer service at HD could have gone from OK to horrible. They were just OK when we shopped there , and we were there often enough at a single store the staff knew us. Others , not quite as good , for sure.
