    •  I think you are missing my point. (0+ / 0-)

Almost all of Missouri will go Republican by LARGE margins.  So Obama wasn't going to win those counties and Hillary wasn't going to win those counties.  They are conservative Republican counties.  Each would do poorly for different reasons.  Obama would lose Democratic votes due to racism.  Hillary would lose independents and would drive turnout among Republicans.  (That's why most of us in Missouri thought that having both of them on the ticket was a recipe for disaster - the worst of both worlds, at least in MIssouri).  But neither of them was going to do at all well in rural Missouri.

I think if you want to examine whether Hillary would have done better in Missouri, the best argument to make is that she would have won the KC suburbs.  I have NO idea if that is true - but that is where Obama failed to carry out the standard Democratic strategy.

On the other hand - even if she had, I'm not sure Hillary would have gotten the HUGE margins that Obama did in St. Louis City and Kansas City proper.  And she might have won St. Louis County but by a smaller margin.  Or not.  It's hard to say there.

So its' really hard to say.  But the best argument would be to examine if the KC suburb problem.

        •  ok (0+ / 0-)

but it's the same argument.  She would do no good in red rural MO.  Most democrats wouldn't (well liked state level people would be the exception) but particularly Hillary.  We were hoping that Jay Nixon would have reverse coattails in rural MO because it looked like he might (and he did) win a lot of rural counties.  But he didn't.

The question, which I asked somewhere above, is could she have helped in in the KC suburbs.

          •  I don't have enough knowledge.. (0+ / 0-)

of MO politics to say one way or another...it is just a feeling that I have that more Hillary time in MO could have helped Obama recieve an additional 5,000 votes...

Perhaps you are right the suburbs would have been the better area instead of the rural areas...
