No, I never said anything of the sort. What I said was that all this cheering for Minnesota's election is cheering for millions of people who voted for obviously bad choices.

But why not show us what Minnesotans are "worthy of", since you brought it up, by throwing at me a straw man argument that you made up?

I was impressed and moved by the diary, and by the work the people of Minnesota are doing to make sure this election reflects the will of the people.  Even if those people don't vote the way I'd like them to, even though they make choices, such as Bachmann, that are appalling, I'm still cheering for a state that tries to get elections right.  It sounded to me, in both your comments, as though you are dismissive of the process because people made choices that you don't agree with.  I've reread both comments a couple of times, and I can't parse them any other way.

I repeat, the point isn't who they voted for, it's that their votes will be counted.  That's the whole point of having a democracy.  The most demoralizing thing about the last 8 years has been watching Bush and the neo-cons deconstruct the fabric of democracy, and coming to believe that no one gave a shit.  Obama's success has inspired me to hope again for the future of my country, simply because he kept his word - he campaigned on the issues, didn't go Rovian, and WON.  I'm thrilled to hear about a clean recount in Minnesota because the White Male Riot in Florida 2000 and the Great Diebold Fraud/Ohio + Florida 2004 were body blows, they really wiped out my remaining reserves of optimism.  If the people of Minnesota decide to re-elect Norm Coleman I won't be happy about that, but I'll still be thrilled that it's an honest election.

I didn't say the recount wasn't clean, or anything about it. You can go on and on expounding on your feelings about the recount, but I didn't say anything about it.

It's a straw man. But if you're so obsessed with your feelings that you can't even notice the subject of the comment I posted, then you can keep the rest of this thread to yourself. You're not talking to me, anyway.
