    We had a mercedes 240D in Minnesota, and there were mornings where you couldn't start it to save your life.  When it's 25 below zero, diesel engines just won't start.  That's why when you go by truck stops up there at night, all the big rigs leave their engines running.  A block heater can help, but basically the fuel actually gets thick when it's really cold, which is why in those areas they have to mix the fuel with kerosene.

    And forget about biodiesel up there.
