Which helps us all, straight and gay and transsexual and transgender as well as those who are unsure, be who we want to be without the confines of arbitrary gender roles.

    Thank you!

From my far less experienced view than yours ... one has to make the homophobic accept the "otherness" of the "non-straights" in their midst before one can introduce the concept that maybe they aren't quite so happy with the role that they've been given by the culture.

It tends to work better in the long run if education is done with the goals in the following order:

        1. accept otherness
        1. examine whether "self" is happy with the "norm"

(and I didn't mean to make this ambiguous for the casual reader)

... that you did an exceptional job of connecting with the acceptance of "otherness". You succeeded in bringing into a recognizable context people who have made the decision to alter the constructs that have defined their birth gender ... be it surgically, sartorially, or by sheer force of will. And your examples have shown those that have been very good at exhibiting the surface layer of societal gender norms.

Perfect.  This may educate those that expect a certain comfortable surface.

There is an intermediate step where the homophobes have to recognize that legitimately heterosexual individuals (including themselves) are not as "visually sexually unambiguous" as their stereotype of "virility" and "femininity". This is the crux of the effort to reach the angry and the timid  (i.e. the convertible among the homophobic) for them to arrive at a deeper understanding of gender straitjackets in our society.

It's our greatest hope for understanding ... and to get to that examination of "self".
