    I'm not sure what he can do - could we use the tax laws to somehow equalize U.S. and third world wages? Something clearly needs to be done. These big corporations want all the benefits of doing business in America, but they do not want to hire American workers.

    In fact, outsourcing is one reason the economy is in so much trouble. It is a major reason the U.S. didn't create many jobs the last 8 years.

      on companies that overuse the H1-B visa program and use that money to support job training programs to bring unemployed tech workers up to speed on current technology? One of the main arguments made by companies is that they can't find Americans who have knowledge of what's going on in the tech world now -- well, grab all those old C++ programmers and put them in an intensive Java course (or whatever the current programming flavor is) and probably most of them will be capable programmers in 3-6 months (once you learn the logic, it's just a matter of relearning syntax in a lot of cases).
