  •  Let's parse your idea. (0+ / 0-)

Allowing these large financials to fail would be painful in the short term,

What does "painful" mean, who is experiencing it that shouldn't and what is "short term?"

but would be much better for the long-term prospects of the free market and democracy than allowing these corrupt and cumbersome institutions to maintain their operations.

Resorting to subjective terms such as "corrupt" - what laws have been violated? - and "cumbersome" - you know a morre efficient way to run their business? - makes it harder for your message to get resonance with those of us who look for more facts and less hyperbole.

In order for the President Elect to make a believer out of me,

Do we really need "believers" or do we need people who weigh alternatives and offer practical alternatives to proposed policies?

he must enact strong and meaningful market regulations (including reinstatement of the repealed portions of the Glass-Steagall Act) and seek drastic increases in corporate, upper-tier income, capital gains, and estate taxes to repay the national debt,

I hear the GOP once again resorting to the "balance-the-budget meme, that they have ignored for the last eight years but why should Obama be shackled with that idea at THIS time?  We borrow money at 2.6% and spend 9% of the federal budget on interest on the debt.  How is that a threat to our solvency?

eliminate our trade deficit, and fund the universal health insurance and environmental initiatives he has promised.

You have a timeline on this?  You really want an insurance program on steroids or universal affordable healthcare?

    ...Former candidate for Congress.
