he said he would end the red/blue State, bickering, etc., that is what turned some of my Repub family to Obama's side in the voting booth.

Hope, change win; Barack Obama, your time is now

he is such a change. He actually believes what he say and then acts on it.  I have no concerns about his cabinet picks for two reasons.  First, it seemd obvious to me that the change was Obama's vision and not who he picked - they will work for him not vice versa.  Secondly to end up with progressive legislation that passes, it needs to be structured in a way that most are brought on board. Including repbulicans.  It wont be a fast process.

Third reason too. perhaps the biggest one.  These are unique and dire times.  It would have been a large enough job to pick up after the bush administration where it was a year ago but the economy and therefore jobs, spending, paying your mortgage etc. are now so far in the toilet its an astronomical job to fix and it is a unique one too.  The 30's are not cut and paste to 2008.  Its going to take visionary thinking and it will also take using ideas from both republicans and democrats.  Everyone really does need to pull together and Barack has the ability, his cabinet picks show no one has to be afraid of an ideologue, he will make his own decisions based on the best advice from everyone, whereever their background came from.

Powell on palin: I don't believe she's ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of the vice president.
