    Wonderful post.

What sank the Republican party was hubris, saber rattling and a demand for ideological purity at all costs.

It scared the living shit out of moderates and independents, much to the boon of Democrats.

But with the sour grape griping that has been going on here about Lieberman, you'd think that Dems weren't the party of ideas and a big tent, but rather a party with rigid philosophies that must be adhered to at all costs, even when it puts the party in peril.

I'm sick of the Lieberman bitching.  It was irritating at first, but it's time to move on.

The issue isn't that Reid is too conservative, it's that he's too weak and ineffective.  It's fine to have principles that are centrist and stick up for them - see the solid support around here for Webb or Tester - it's much worse to constantly abandon your principles for personal gain.

      Right on, Dr. Dean.
