  •  Kos is wrong again. (0+ / 0-)

I know... not surprising for me to say that, is it?

I'm as disappointed as the next guy that Congress hasn't done more to end the war (which is what much of this is about, I'm sure), but overall, I think that Reid has been a good minority/majority leader, especially considering the narrow margin he's had to work with.  Just to name a few things, he helped prevent the United Arab Emirates from running our ports, he helped to make the bailout a lot more palatable, and with help from Jim Webb and the other DC-area Democratic senators, he kept the Senate open during recesses to keep Bush from making recess appointments (something no previous Democratic Senate leader has done, if I'm not mistaken).

And if Kos is really such a political genius, he should know that polls taken two years before an election don't mean much.  Heck, at this time last year, Hillary Clinton looked unbeatable in the polls.

Also, while I agree with Kos that Liberman shouldn't have been allowed to chair the Homeland Security commitee, I'm not sure that I would blame that all on Reid; after all, Obama was just as willing to forgive Lieberman.  (In any event, I suspect that rightly or wrongly, fights over who chairs what committee are "inside baseball" arguments to most people who aren't political junkies.)

The era of "the era of big government is over" is over.
