    •  Great Diary. Much appreciated. (0+ / 0-)

      Let's keep our fingers crossed.

As I commented above, the viability of our democracy is at stake if the Conservatives succeed in cutting off funding to the opposition.

And the thought of unchecked Conservative Party rule for a generation scares the shit out of me.

BTW, what part of Canada are you in?

I live in Toronto. Proud to say Torontonians haven't elected a Conservative to parliament in decades. LOL!

I agree with you - I was furious when I heard about the Tories' proposal concerning rolling back election finance reform.  And they have the gall to have a "Minister of Democratic Renewal" - how effin' Orwellian!  If Harper's this arrogant with a minority government, imagine what he'd be like with a majority!

By the way, I live on the Sunshine Coast of BC.  As a longtime resident of southwestern BC, I'm used to fairly equal distribution of power between the three main parties.  I've been represented variously by Keith Martin (Liberal), Libby Davies (NDP), Blair Wilson (Green), and now John Weston (Conservative).
