in this comment, but it bears repeating:

Thank you for a fantastic site that has changed my life. I live in a small town in a safe Democratic district. Two years ago, I gave up a $40K/year job to return to graduate school and -- having burnt through my savings -- the financial pinch is beginning to hurt.

I could have easily sat out this season, thinking that my contribution was unnecessary because my county is already blue. Instead -- thanks to this site: I've learned about other races that needed my support -- and somehow I've scrounged up $700 of turkee this year for them. I've learned about ways I can contribute my time even in a safe district. And I've learned of the importance and effectiveness of talking with friends and relatives about the election and not taking anyone's votes for granted. And I've been humbled by the energy, creativeness, and dedication of this community -- and the extent to which they've made this newcomer feel welcome.

I can honestly say that I feel better about this country now than I did back in May. For that matter, I feel better about myself, too. And though I don't presume to speak for anyone besides myself, I'd bet another $700 that I'm not the only person on here that feels this way.

So thank you for dealing with the headaches of increased traffic. You're making a profound difference that leaves me just slack-jawed in admiration.
