This site is the #1 political blogsite for all the obvious reasons.  It's tasteful, and sensible, yet cutting.  The wiki, the mojo system, and most importantly, the core of people Mr. Moulitsas has attracted, kept, and synergized with to set the tone and culture are all very impressive.

Most impressive of all is the reawakening of the progressive dragon, that had become complacent due to its stunning victories starting in the 30's and climaxing in the late 60's and 70's.  To the extent the site holds the press accountable as well as the pols they process, gives the people a voice and organizes the wonderfully organic chaos of the left, the reality-based community is in good stead.

..is how relatively invisible Markos actually is! When there are spats between folks here, I don't see his heavy hand descend out of the sky to "fix" things. Very rarely will he step in to address a problem. This is one big reason why this site is so great. His personality and his beliefs are not the iron rule, but instead they are a guiding force.

...salutes Markos and all the Kossians for strapping on the spurs and grabbing the reins of the dragon once again!  You are all carrying the work of the twentieth century, the New Deal and the Great Society, rising up to stop the counter-revolution that has been fomented for decades by those who have opposed justice for the working people and the oppressed of America.  I have had a faith, all through these last few years, that, bleak as it has all looked at times, the Americans were going to get it together and get it right for once.

That great WHOOOOOOSH you will hear Wednesday morning will be the entire world breathing a sigh of relief that the hope of America had not died.

That is an outstanding and inspiring post, claude!
        •  Thank you, peeder (4.00)
That's the synergy of dKos; we all inspire each other.

The key dynamic of the sixties was the coming together of people, and in coming together, realizing how many of them there are, they are empowered.  DKos recreates that dynamic over the net, which wasn't around then, and it  took years for the energy level to grow to critical mass; this time around it took 18 months.  The speed at which stuff now moves, info, memes, ideas, is nothing short of phenomenal to those of us who used to crank mimeos. I have been priviledged to live in "interesting times" twice.  Thanks for making it more interesting.
