    idea.  It seemed like a good idea in the 80's but it builds in a lack of accountability to functions that are supposed to be done by the government.

      I was in the military from 1988-2006, and our food, when it was cooked by people who were actually Marines, Soldiers, Airmen, or Sailors was damned good. The chow hall was kept clean, and the food service people had a sense of pride because they were just like us.

      In the mid-90s that started to change on a large scale, as the contractors took over. Immediately the quality of the service and food diminished. I started eating off base, because the chow halls were dirty, all the food was fried crap, and the people treated us poorly.

        opened the doors of bases to fast food restaurants. Now, it is extremely difficult to find nutritious food on a military base. Absolutely disgusting!
