    No term limits. And a figurehead governorship.

    The Texas constitution reflects Texans' fear and distrust of strong, central leadership, conveying more power to the Texas congress and other posts, than the governor. The governor's power lies mailny in making appointment to non-elected positions, and well, being a figurehead, almost a mascot, for the state. (Really, I did tell people, ad nauseum, that being gov of TX in no way qualified Bush to be POTUS.)

    Infuriating. I respect Texans' cherished sense of autonomy, but this is large part why NOTHING constructive get done in Austin.
