    I think you may be rewriting the Bible a little bit in your comment.

      In reading the bible, it is clear to me that Jesus WAS persecuted, I've just never read it that he FELT persecuted.

      The early Christ followers were persecuted (many were killed) but they didn't protest that fact. Many felt blessed and prayed for their persecutors.

      Those folks ranting on the radio about the war on Xmas are clearly NOT being persecuted, but they sure whine about it like they are.  that's the difference i was trying to highlight.

        last words were a prayer for God to forgive those crucifying him. Even if one interprets 'forgive them, for they know not what they do' as referring to all humans, those who had just stuck him on the cross were included in the statement.
