Ignatieff was one of the major defenders of the Iraq War, using his academic credentials as legitimation.

His winding, incoherent rant defending his position in the New York Times shortly after returning to Canadian politics was one of the worst displays by a liberal I have ever seen.

Maybe he's changed since then, but based on his past performance, I have the feeling that Ignatieff will not be an effective, forceful leader in the parliament.

after living abroad for 27 years, straight into contention for the Liberal leadership.

It typifies everything wrong with the Liberal Party.

With a few exceptions, it is now composed of nothing but hacks and apparatchiks.
