our leaders are cowardly asshats.  Their leaders are incredibly brazen, belligerent asshats.

We have the White House and the majority in the House and Senate.  I think it might be easier for them now.  People need to keep in mind that we had a Republican president that would veto what the Dems wanted anyway.

When we were the minority party in both houses the Democratic leadership made excuses, and we bought them because they were fairly valid (even though it wouldn't have hurt them to stand up every now and then).  When we were the majority party in one house we heard a lot of the same excuses, and we continued to buy them.  When we were the majority party in BOTH houses, we continued to buy it for some odd reason.  Now I'm betting we'll continue hearing excuses.  Hell, I'm certain they'll blame inaction now on not having the magical 60 votes.  If we HAD 60 votes they'd find another excuse.

      •  Well when Clinton was in the WH (0+ / 0-)

the GOP didn't just fold on every hand.

I stand by my assertion that they are cowardly asshats.

If you want to pass your agenda, you fight for it even when you have an uphill battle.  They have folded nearly evey time.

Let's just wait and see what happens!  If they fuck up once Obama takes office, then we can be pissed.  But until then, who knows what'll happen.

          •  Who knows what tomorrow will bring? (0+ / 0-)

Are you mad, woman? You never know when an old calendar might come in handy. Sure, it's not 1985 now, but who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Yeah... I guess that, despite their moral and political cowardice during my entire adult life, the Dem leadership may just buck up and get down to some good ol' single-payer goodness!

            Holding breath...

then why do you vote for them?

              •  Ummm... because of how the Republicans have been. (0+ / 0-)

I'll take stupid and cowardly over backwards and evil any day.

I still won't call the stupid cowards awesome, though.

Sadly, I live in a two-party system, and on certain issues that are important to me neither party represents my beliefs.  That's just how it is.  I usually have to vote against someone rather than for someone.

Besides, I live in Oklahoma... the Democrats I vote for never make it to DC anyway.

Anyway... hopefully, we'll see some single-payer.
