ecological professional and advocate, and keen observer of the vegetation and changes in the environment in the vein of Aldo Leopold. I have noticed that the native vegetation holds up a heck of a lot better near the 150-175 year old rail rights of way here in the Chicago region than it does near roads, what with the salt runoff and the amount of nitrogen inputs from the roads and car exhausts themselves.
