  •  $1,300 per Month for Health Insurance (4+ / 0-)

My wife had health insurance and I was and am on hers; then she recently retired, and we had a COBRA, which will expire in January, at which time we'll have to pay $1,300 every month until I reach the Medicare age of 65 in 3 years. I am working but can't expect any benefits or even that the work will continue; indeed, I am already working "part-time." The company does not have "full-time" employees. I am considering dropping my part in my wife's insurance, since it is I who am the expensive one. Her share would only come to $300 if I were not on it with her. Of course, if I drop it, then I risk not having healthcare should any problems arise... I myself have lived in 6 foreign countries, and every day I talk to people who come from all over the world. They all in their own countries enjoyed national single-payer health care that did not bankrupt ordinary people.
