The entire rationalization for these vast criminal enterprises built on the war in Nicaragua was "returning Nicaragua to democracy".

In 2006, Daniel Ortega was reelected president of Nicaragua. Ortega was the chief "Sandinista" against whom the US ran the war. He had been elected president in 1985, in the freest election ever held in Nicaragua, ruling until 1990.

I'm not saying whether Ortega or the Sandinistas were good rulers. But it is clear that Nicaragua had democracy, regardless of the US claims. The entire Nicaragua war was a fraud.

A fraud whose truth should be obvious: an excuse for the CIA to make $BILLIONS in illegal budgets, arms deals and drug deals. Which had the cost of a crack epidemic, which fed an AIDS epidemic. While on the other side of the Iran/Contra joint operation propped up Iran with weapons, and committed the same kind of fraud in Afghanistan to sell weapons and drugs.

And all those Iran/Contra gangsters from the "fringes" of the Reagan/Bush regime showed up to run the entire government. I haven't seen any decrease in the amount of drugs peddled in this country. I've noticed a very large increase in the amount of weapons sold. I haven't noticed any big change in the gangs running those guns or drugs, which would have required a gang war of unprecedented violence.

The CIA has only increased its gun and drug operations since the 1980s. We will now see whether a Democratic president and Congress can do anything about it. If something changes from this huge global criminal operation, we will notice it. So far, nothing.
