"Pose as Journalists Laid to 11 in C.I.A."

No link, you have to check their archives. The author is John M. Crewdson, "special to the New York Times".

Or consider the case of Sam A. Jaffe, reported in the article above, who testified to the Pike Committee that CIA was going to arrange to have CBS hire him, and that he would be posted to Moscow. He said CIA's Domestic Contacts Division had "contacted a lot of guys", including reporters. The CIA, an adjoining article continues, said they had employees working for at least 15 different newspapers, magazines and broadcast outlets, including maintaining their own proprietary news outlet.

In another NYT piece, 1/26/1976, they reported that the Pike Committee concluded that the intelligence agencies "secret ways... are 'beyond the scrutiny' of Congress."

Here's the kicker. The year long House investigation had its report suppressed, at the request of the -- CIA!

I don't trust many sources anymore, and can you blame me?
