If he tacts to the left, he will get way-laid in the primary, if he tacts right, he will loose Philly. But there is a greater danger for democrats here.

Philly is the reason Specter has lasted so long. I know many democrats in Philly who split their ticket for him. If he is threatened in the primary, some Philly Dems may decide it necessary to flip registrations to prop up his numbers. Under this senario, repubs may take advantage, proping up straw-men or some other scheme.

But more importantly, this will directly effect fundraising. As moderate Philly Dems in the business community see this threat, they may begin steering money from Dems to Specter.

Philly Biz may not want to lose Specter, but many would find it acceptable if a Democrat were to replace him. But, a general election without Specter on the ballot may be concidered to big a risk for the Philly business community.

If Toomey wins, Philly will have to look to the State Legislature to fill in the funding gaps left in the wake of loosing Specter. And anyone who knows about PA state politics, knows that the State House has no love for South East PA.

Faith alone will not save you... Blind faith least of all.
