    are really, really good cooks. My mother was, without a doubt, the world's worst cook, but my grandma... that's where I learned it.  

    My husband, who is a southerner, got this advice from his proper 90-something grandmother: "Make sure you marry someone who can cook. Anyone can go to bed."

      although even in that area I am sure that there are varying skill levels!  LOL!

      I do believe that cooking well indeed shows a certain cognizance, and a good ability to pay attention to detail.

      Furthermore, cooking to please others requires that one accept constructive criticism and adapt one's own preconceived notions.
