      and was specifically responding to your first sentence, the one in the block quote.

      My response was to the generality of your statement "you are only on the hook for it if you SPEND it or forward it."

      The rest of your comment was fine regarding this particular case.

      I merely wanted to call attention to the broader idea that depositing or cashing a fraudulent check is itself committing fraud.
