    a modestly funded (in terms of the total federal budget or total world economic production) program of human space exploration could help us practice establishing the political mechanisms needed to accomplish multi-generational tasks such as managing climate change.

    "Poetry and politics" was the term used by "Alice in Florida" and I would assert that space exploration can be useful for achieving political and poetical objectives even if someone has no inherent enthusiasm for space exploration, per se.
