I clearly see the difference between auto racing danger and someone  getting kneed in the face repeatedly.  I just think as a society we are really crossing the line between sport and manslaughter.  I once made a joke about creating a television show called "Ambulance Chasers"  were teams of small television crews would follow ambulances and videotape the carnage.  Funny story, its now on television. (I have nothing to do with it, I just thought as a society we were headed in that direction.)  I love sports.  I have a nice three team parlay today with the Over in the Dallas/Eagles game with Pitt - 10 1/2 and the over in Hou/Chi   I really doubt anybody will get repeatedly kneed in the face in any football game today.  I argue that Ultamate Fighting, or MMA is crossing the line of sports, and is much more like a dog fight.  It's kind of sad this is considered normal.

Help, my country has been hijacked by an idiot cowboy.

You can of course argue whatever you want.  My issue with the basic pre.mise of your diary, that why is the FCC up in arms about this (Janet Jackson whipping out her nipple) when they are doing nothing about that (MMA), is that by saying MMA should be removed by the airwaves, you are basically doing the exact same thing as all the people freaked out about the nipple.  You are saying that everyone should view MMA the same way you view it (as dog fighting).  The nipplephobes said that everyone should view Janet's nipple the same way they did (as pornography).  The problem in both cases, is that millions of people disagree with both the nipplephobia and the comparison of MMA to dog fighting.  Why should you be able to tell the FCC that the nipple was fine and at the same time tell me that I can't watch MMA?

When humans enslave other humans and then force them to fight at gunpoint, and they put that on TV, let me know and I'll make up a sign and picket something with you

      •  What is the goal of an MMA fighter--points? (0+ / 0-)

Or to inflict harm. I have never seen any MMA event. I have had a Catholic priest tell me he thought professional boxing was sinful, despite the involvement of the Irish in the beginning of the business in America. That was because the only point was to inflict harm. Golden Gloves, Olympic boxing is based on points.
