    to testify, assure themselves that, at least in the week leading up to the Burris appointment, Blagojevich was not soliciting and did not receive any corrupt deals, and then seat Burris, reserving the right to expel him if information came out.

    By the way, if I were Mitch McConnell watching this unfold, I would absolutely try to bar Ted Kaufman from his seat pending investigation of what benefit Gov. Minner may have received.  I have no real reason to suspect anything, not does he, but the precedent will have been set and only a Democrat would shy from exploiting it fully.

    And if eye were a union member viewing a possibly one-vote margin on a cloture vote on EFCA, I would be calling up Harry Reid and threatening him in colorful language for taking away this Democratic seat on top of not seating Franken immediately.  Seriously, it may be left to the unions to make the Senate Dems see the light.
