In the Pleasant Street Theater in Northampton, Massachusetts.  I went with a bisexual friend who was living with her girlfriend in the 1970s and vividly remembers the sense of how the whole gay community, not just the Castro, felt like it had been deprived of a leader when Harvey Milk went down.  We both had tears in our eyes at the end, not at the murder, but at the sight of the long, long line of people quietly marching with candles in their hands.

When we left the theater and walked into the softly falling snow, I shook my head and murmured, "If only he'd lived."  My friend closed her eyes for a brief instant and agreed.

    Brilliant, brilliant, movie.
