  •  Bush/NeoCon minefields (0+ / 0-)

Obama will be facing a very tricky process in trying to pull US troops out of Iraq while dealing with the rest of the ME mess.  Obama's no doubt made this and other foreign policy choices based on advice he's gotten from those who know what's needed to navigate the dangerous minefield Bush and the neocons are leaving behind.

Back in the old days, Bush I was content to screw with an incoming Dem president by leaving behind minor messes like Travelgate.  This bunch is much more malignant.

The choice of Panetta gives Obama someone experienced in the ISG who can try to "stovepipe" accurate intelligence from the long term professionals at CIA and avoid Cheney's hand-picked neo-con political appointees there.

All tinfoil aside, this presidential transition could be a very dangerous time for national security. The threat isn't as much from enemies abroad, but from the outgoing administration.

As for DiFi and Rockefeller, they're just engaging in CYA.

There's an innate tendency on the part of even the elite to idolize men who are making a lot of money, and assume that they know what they're doing. PK
