The ephemerally petty:  My elderly neighbor across the river is perhaps losing his grip about dealing with his cows.  You'd think he'd be worried about them cutting up their udders going over the barbed wire.  (Simplified version of the story.)  I've lost one apple tree for sure to them already, maybe more.

The part that's relevant here is that my dog goes nuts when a cow comes around the house, and they've been coming at night.  (Nocturnal cows?  Who knew?)  And he goes into a major barking fit whenever that happens.  So I haven't been getting anything approaching normal sleep lately.  Petty problem, but it definitely addles the mind.  I'm one of those people whose performance drops way off in a hurry with sleep deprivation.

Anyhow, good luck on your transition.  Presumably one of the bigger ones in your life.  Great to have a safe place to go.  Not everyone's got even that.
