    has received awards (as recently as 2004) - I think it was the David Brinkley Award - I just think it's not very professional when a "commentator" who works in a reporters role, heaps praise on anyone - deserving or not.  Just as I think it's equally unprofessional when there is personal criticism.

      feign neutrality? I've got no problem with opinion journalism, so long as the journalist is honest about his political leaning.

      Matthews has made his politics pretty clear, he was considering a run for the senate as a democrat.
