  •  I'm a techie and willing to help (6+ / 0-)

but I'd need to have remote ssh access...hmmm.  I'm also may meet the chronic criteria.

Perhaps we need to generate a database of certified IT professionals whom web site owners could tap as needed.  And I mean certified in terms of having a security certificate generated for these professional linking them to all reasonable identifying information and aligned with progressive causes.  Then we'd have a two way trust system of information systems service host an tech services provider.

One might wonder if sites hosting discussions that openly considered any rights and issues of Palestinians were targeted, or if critiquing Republican opposition plans...  Shouldn't have to worry if one of your techies is secretly carrying out some opposition's agenda of disruption and chaos.

There is a quite an underground business that trades in millions of hacked and compromised computers--selling their combined power and re-purposed capabilities to high bidders.  Shouldn't have to worry if they're part of foreign infiltration cells--there are many linked with gang and mob-like organizations operating from Chinese, Baltic areas, Koreans, Middle Eastern, and other areas, often on a for-profit basis.  Some are associated with terrorist groups and a number have association with black-ops para-military or regular military groups as well.

Operating securely in today's wild west internet frontier isn't an easy task and requires constant vigilance, and frequent reviews and updates of defense strategies.  As summer 2008 ended, I made thousands cleaning up and defending web sites from 'SQL Injection' attacks--and this affected some large non-profit organizations as well as big business.  I advised those site operators to have monthly security audits and quarterly top to bottom security reviews at minimum.  This needs to become as common as changing oil for your car.

is just how green I am, but I want to write and I want to create something that I haven't found out there, at least not easily.

Thanks, I will take any help anyone is willing to give.  Right now I'm footing the upfront fees which aren't too bad.

I am using Bluehost for hosting the site, which is completely affordable.
