Dole was winning polls by 15 points at this point, then got creamed by token opposition.

Will you guys do a hypothetical Kansas poll?

Don't donate to the DSCC in 2010 - They'll give your money to Harry Reid.

    •  Granted, Obama helped a LOT... (0+ / 0-)

There's no way black turnout will be anywhere near as high for an off-year election featuring two white men running for Senate.

Moreover, Hagan may have utterly botched her campaign, but the DSCC's work was near-perfect.

thought she ran a pretty good one from i could see as a non-NC resident...

The world is so cold and the rhythm is your blanket, wrap yourself up in it, if you love it then you'll thank it.

Hagan started early in the primary season, and built lots of grassroots support in rural areas of the state.  I met her at a small breakfast gathering here in Haywood Co. about 4 weeks before the primary, and was very much impressed with her toughness.

        •  No Botched Campaign (0+ / 0-)

It was Dole who botched her campaign, and did so with breathtaking ineptitude.

Hagan ran what was arguably to best Senate campaign of 2008 going from being a virtual unknown outside her Greensboro state Senate district to toppling one of the best known women in America in the space of six months.

        •  Hagan just didn't do much... (0+ / 0-)

until the DSCC ran a pretty brilliant set of ads that made it a real race.  If not for that, she would have never had a chance.  As it was, she still didn't do the best job of capitalizing on disgust with Dole at first, but she eventually pulled it out.

I think she'll be a good Senator, but I wasn't too impressed with her campaign, especially in the several months after the primary.

...Obama barely won here while Burr in 2004 was helped by a Bush landslide in NC.  I think off-year helps us in 2010.
