  •  Jeez...a trip down memory lane (7+ / 0-)

When I was a college student attending U of Michigan in the 70's(I was from Connecticut), I got a job working minimum wage(less than $2.50 an hour) at a small factory in Marshall's making gas regulators for RV's.  Progressive Dynamics.  I used to LOVE my sweet roll from the bakery called Louie's on the main drag in Marshall.  But I hated that job.

The management was fighting off a unionization push by the underpaid women(all the women were working at mind-numbing jobs; men were the assh^le managers)...they quickly determined that I was a commie-pinko from U of M( but in those days if factories hired a college student for the summer, they got a tax break so they didn't fire me). The owners were thrilled when the unionization effort failed, and when I went back to Ann Arbor.

Fond memories of Michigan..bass fishing on Clear Lake by Big Rapids, those beautiful dunes on Lake Michigan, canoeing on the Pine River,  Petoskey stones, cherries from Traverse City.   I hate to hear things have gotten so miserable there... Si Quaeris Peninsulam Amoenam Circumspice:  it's a beautiful place.
