    ...I know a paper engineer who, as his pre-retirement sunset post was appointed as a caretaker of a shutdown mill.

    Literally, showed up every day, walked around to make sure that nothing was missing and that the heat and electricty were staying on.  For the rest of the day he sat in the office screwing around on the internet.

    A lot of mills were purchased with the sole desire to shut them down.  This happened here in Wisconsin to the NewPage Kimberly and Niagara mills.  NewPage bought them from Stora Enso (A Finnish company who was running them) and shut them down to elminate competition for its cheaper foreign and southern mills.
