  •  Of course tax cuts stimulate the economy. (1+ / 0-)

If you have some amazing evidence that would disprove Economics 101, though, please don't hold back.

That said, Obama proposed tax cuts months and months ago.  Were you listening?  Where were your pro-HRC diaries?

The left has been saying for years that trickle-down doesn't work. Now, 'cause O is doing it, it does?

The last 'stimulous' check went right to people's credit card bills. It didn't stimulate the economy one whit. People are too in debt to use this money for anything other than debts and bills.

What is needed is public works, on a massive scale, and preferably with American-made steel, concrete etc.

Plus: a project to put solar water heaters and/or photovoltaics and/or windmills (American-made, of course) on EVERY federal building - from government offices to military depots.

Imagine how many people would be needed to manufacture and install these things! Imagine the cost of photovoltaics dropping like a stone as the economies of scale kicked in!

The thesis there is that tax cuts produce so much growth that the increase to tax revenues will offset the loss in revenue from the initial cut.

That's hoakum, but not because tax cuts don't produce growth.  They do.

    •  Pro HRC (0+ / 0-)

I had none - I supported her after Dodd dropped out, but then her campaign disgusted me. It still disgusts me - but maybe she'd be standing by her liberal guns if she was prez-elect. Certainly, Rick Warren at the inauguration? I can't see it.

Obama did, at one time, talk of repealing the Bush tax cuts, the only tax cuts in history that I'm aware of that took place in a time of war...

      •  He also talked extensively about tax cuts. (1+ / 0-)

So why do you seem so shocked - shocked! - that he's going through w/ a campaign promise?

        •  I am shocked most of all... (0+ / 0-)

that HATE SPEECH (or at least a man who uses HATE SPEECH) is being promoted by Obama.

He didn't have to pick an openly-gay bishop or something, but he sure-as-hell didn't have to pick a man who says such vile things either. He SHOULDN'T have picked this man, under any circumstances.

And if he said something about tax cuts for the RICH while camaigning, I'm sorry I missed it.

He DID have a homophobic black preacher on tour with him during the campaign, and that disturbed me greatly, but I cut him some slack for 'running to the middle'.

Now that's he's president elect, though, he seems to be running to the right.

But the left, like the right, is not fond of admitting its mistakes, and so he is being cut WAY more slack than if he hadn't been our guy...
